Ecole Willows School Supports Japan

Students at Ecole Willows School
Support Japan

Over the last three weeks everyone has been working hard to show their support for those living in Japan. As you know, Jackie designed the T-shirt that you see in the picture and with the help from one of our families, Marc and Midori were able to turn Jackie’s idea into a huge success.

We also have a young lady in grade 3, Samantha, who initiated a fundraiser by asking fellow students to donate twoonies. Each day Samantha came to the office to give us an update on how the drive was going and each day the total grew little by little.

On Friday, April 15th we finished our fundraising drive with a Spirit Assembly. With the help of Midori and Jackie we were able to invite the Uminari Taiko drummers to join us. The drumming was fabulous and the children really enjoyed it. It was a bit loud at the beginning, but everyone soon got used to it! Starting off our assembly we had Jackie and Samantha come up and tell us how each part of the drive went. Samantha was so happy to tell everyone that we raised $1133.46 in twoonies. Jackie told us that we had raised $3830.00 in T-shirt sales. Altogether Willows raised $4933.46 to help support families in Japan.

Thank you Samantha and Jackie for keeping our eyes on our larger world community. We are all very proud of both of you.
