Manju Fundraiser…submit your orders now (package of 8 for $10)!

Since we can’t have you all join us at our Annual Japanese Cultural Fair this fall, we thought we would bring the sweet taste of Japan to you. As promised, we bring you the Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society’s (VNCS) first Manju Fundraiser!

The manju will be sold in packages of eight (8). Each package will contain:

4 mochi manju – 2 filled with red bean paste, 2 filled with white bean paste

4 yaki manju – 2 filled with red bean paste, 2 filled with white bean paste

How to order

Each package of manju costs $10.00.

Step 1 – Send email to manju@vncs.ca including the following information:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Preferred method of contact (email, phone, text) This information will only be used to confirm your order and if we need to contact you about your order, payment or pick-up.
  • Number of packages

Step 2 – Send your payment via e-transfer to vncstreasurer@shaw.ca. If you are unable to pay by e-transfer, please let us know when placing your order.

Step 3 – You will receive a confirmation of your order and payment using your preferred method of contact.

Step 4 – Pick up your order on Saturday, November 27, 2021 between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Full pick-up details (e.g., parking, mask requirements) will be provided with your order confirmation.

Step 5 – Enjoy your manju!

Volunteers needed!

Volunteers are needed to help prepare and package the manju. Whether you’re someone who has never made manju before or an experienced manju-maker, we’d be pleased to have you join us on any of the following days:

  • Thursday, November 25, 2021 – 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Friday, November 26, 2021 – 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Saturday, November 27, 2021 – 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm

Covid-19 precautions
A Communicable Disease Prevention plan will be in place for the preparation, packaging, and pick-up of the manju at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Hall.

All volunteers participating in the preparation, packaging, and pick-up will be required to follow Covid-19 precautions. In addition to confirming absence of illness or symptoms, volunteers will be required to:

  • Be fully vaccinated
  • wear a mask at all times
  • maintain physical distancing
  • ensure proper hand and surface hygiene.
