
Things Japanese Coordinator
Effort & Duration
Time commitment leading up to Fair: 1-2hrs/week
Time commitment on Fair Day: 12hrs
Duration: January through August (78hrs in total)
Donation Sourcing & Outreach
- Connect with your personal and community networks to request donations of Japanese cultural items, such as:
- Clothing (Kimono, Obi, Yukata etc.).
- Geta (Shoes).
- Shitsugei (Lacquerware).
- Ohashi (Chopsticks and Rests).
- Other traditional or cultural goods.
- Tōjiki (Ceramics such as Tea Pots, Tea Bowls, Tea Cups, Sake Cups etc.).
- We only accept exceptional books (other books should be donated to the Times Colonist Reads book fair).
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and implement a strategy for attracting donations from the general public.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients receiving donated items.
- Coordinate delivery or pickup logistics to ensure items reach clients in a timely and organized manner.
Inventory Management
- Organize, catalog, and maintain accurate records of all Japanese cultural items in inventory.
- Organize pricing “party” days to ensure everything is priced before the Fair.
On Fair Day
- Organizing and providing direction to the volunteers in the Things Japanese Area.
- Overseeing setup and take down.
- Keeping track of inventory.
- Providing an excellent customer service experience to fair attendees.
