Savour the wonderful tastes of Japan (including delicious sushi, bento boxes and sweet manju desserts). Experience demonstrations of ikebana, tea ceremony, bonsai, shodo, sumi-e, kendo and aikido. Enjoy performances by Uminari Taiko, the Furusato Dancers, Satomi Edwards (Koto), the VJHLSS Children’s Dance Group and Choir and many more!

New for this year:

  • We’re very excited to have potter Harumi Ota joining us. Ota-san will be providing pottery demonstrations in the Kids Room (Senior’s Centre) as well as an activity for kids.
  • “Light Up Nippon” a documentary film will be shown in the Kanaka Room at 12:45 and 1:45 (running time is 30m). The film is being provided by the Consulate General of Japan (Vancouver).
  • Food Ticket Sales will still be in the Jubilee Hall HOWEVER this year pickup of food (Sushi, Manju, Bentos etc) will be in the Bullen Perk area.

Parking Parking is limited at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre itself but there is plenty of parking at the Archie Browning Sports Centre and on the surrounding streets.
