2017 MOCHI-TSUKI KAI and POTLUCK DINNER

Please join us for a potluck dinner, entertainment and interactive participation including mochi-pounding and traditional games to celebrate this New Year.
The afternoon’s program is as follows:
2:30 p.m. Doors Open
3:00 p.m. Welcome
3:15 p.m. Shakuhachi Music
3:30 p.m. Mochi Pounding Demonstration
4:00 p.m. Japanese Language School Children’s performances –
Soran Bushi and Choir Singing
4:15 p.m. Potluck Dinner
4:45 p.m. Calligraphy and Games (during dinner time)
5:15 p.m. Furusato Dancers
5:30 p.m. Pinata Game
6:00 p.m. Uminari Taiko
6:15 p.m. 50/50 Draw
6:30 p.m. Finish and Clean-Up
As this is a popular community event for all ages, there are a few guidelines that will be in place:
Attendees must be Active Members of the Host Organizations
Admission with a Main Course Dish to share –
Please bring sufficient food to feed your family plus 2 (two) other people
As well, please LABEL your serving dish and utensils with your name and your food item with an ingredient list.
Drinks and Dessert will be provided for guests
To help defray costs there will be a sale of Mochi and a 50/50 draw.
Volunteer Help Needed – the old adage “many hands make light work” is best demonstrated at an event like this celebration day and we are looking for assistance from all groups with: Set-up, Kitchen Crew, Reception Desk Greeter, Mochi or 50/50 Sales, Food Table Monitors, Games and Take-down. Kitchen Crew starts at 1:00 p.m. with Hall Set-Up done at 2:00 p.m.
