The VNCS is a founding member of an initiative to form a collective of Asian and South East Asian communities in Victoria, called ASIA in Victoria. The purpose of this collective is to foster cultural, social and resource exchanges between these communities. We have received a grant from the Victoria Foundation to help get this initiative off the ground. The grant will be used to form a Secretariat made up of representatives from the Asian and South East Asian communities and to help fund a public event in 2025 that will showcase Asians in Victoria. This is a call out to fill the VNCS representative position (VNCS Liaison Officer). This person will represent the interest of the Japanese Canadian community in this collective and coordinate our involvement. The position will require approximately 10 hours per month and will be a paid position. The ASIA In Victoria initiative will also require a Project Manager who will oversee the planning, development, and execution of collective’s projects and programs. This position is estimated to require about 30 hours per month and will be a paid position.
