Coordinator Needed
The Japanese Cultural Fair planning committee is looking for a new Things Japanese Coordinator to join the planning team!
The Things Japanese Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and operation of the Things Japanese booth, which raises funds for the Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society (VNCS). The Coordinator will manage the intake and organization of donated items, coordinate volunteer schedules, and ensure smooth operations before, during, and after events, such as the annual Japanese Cultural Fair. Communication and organizational skills are key, along with a passion for Japanese culture and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Donor Relations and Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for donors, ensuring timely and professional responses to inquiries.
- Communicate with donors in person, via email, and over the phone to arrange donations and provide information about the donation process.
- Communicate with Silent Auction coordinator to determine which items are suitable for auction.
Donation Management
- Receive, assess, and organize donated items, including kitchenware, kimono, art, and home decor.
- Determine pricing of items based on condition and value, ensuring fair and consistent pricing.
Event Coordination
- Plan and oversee the setup, operation, and takedown of the Things Japanese booth at community events.
- Create and manage volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and clear delegation of tasks.
Administrative Duties
- Provide reports to VNCS leadership on booth financials
